1. Productfeature: WebUI

Intuitive operation and configuration - anytime, anywhere

The WebUI represents a significant advance in terms of user-friendliness and administration. Thanks to the new functions, users can now configure their storage and backup settings directly via the web interface without having to install a separate GUI client. The intuitive operation enables simple and convenient administration, even from mobile devices. With the new WebUI, you can configure all features directly via the browser.

Further development of the WebUI – more control and flexibility

HPE StoreOnce can now be configured directly via the WebUI as an additional storage type, which expands the central and efficient management of the backup infrastructure. Clients can be organized into client groups in order to clearly display locations or administrative structures, and to assign permissions specifically for each group. The expanded concept also enables new types of group structures, such as Data Mover Groups, to enable Data Mover failover or load balancing. This creates a modern and future-proof structure for backup management.

2. Productfeature: Azure VM

SEP now supports 11 hypervisors

Azure VM integration extends backup concepts with an optimized connection to Microsoft Azure. Instead of installing a separate SEP client in each Azure VM, the Azure VM API is used to create snapshot backups of the virtual machines directly in Azure Blob. These snapshots can then be downloaded and migrated to a local Hyper-V environment. This makes the backup process simpler, increases efficiency and enables seamless integration into existing IT infrastructures.

3. Productfeature: Multi-Factor Authentication

Secure Access with Compliance-Ready Verification Methods

In order to meet important market trends such as NIS-2 and other regulations, functionalities such as multi-factor authentication have been implemented. Two-factor authentication can be carried out via email, certificates or QR code with Google or MS Authenticator.

4. Productfeature: Crossover Backup Server Replication (CBSR)

Simplified backup server replication

This function enables the transfer of data backups between different backup servers. As the data storage itself contains all the necessary metadata, a backup server can replicate all the data required for a restore. Importing backups from another operating Sesam server is a frequently requested function. A frequently used case is to have all backups from several external Sesam servers on a central server. We are talking about cold replication here, which works without direct communication between the 2 Sesam servers. Only read access to the Si3 memory on the external server is permitted.

5. Productfeature: Disaster Recovery

SEP sesam Backup Server - Faster and easier recovery

With the improved disaster recovery function for the SEP sesam Server, recovery in an emergency is significantly simplified, accelerated and made more reliable. Companies can rest assured that their systems will be up and running again as quickly as possible - whether on-premise or in the cloud. In addition, the new disaster recovery process using Si3 dedup storage now offers further options to include the cloud:  Backups can be stored on external storage, local object storage or even specifically outsourced to the cloud. This means that restores can be performed from the cloud or directly in the cloud without any intermediate steps. This enables an even more flexible and resilient emergency strategy that protects companies from data loss and long downtimes.

 

 

6. Productfeature: Efficient bandwidth limitation

Backup without sacrificing performance

To ensure a responsive and productive IT environment, SEP sesam makes it easy to configure bandwidth limitation directly in the backup software - all via a centralised interface. This keeps business-critical applications performing at all times while backup processes run in the background. Thanks to the integrated control, bandwidth utilisation can be flexibly adjusted without the need for changes to the router or additional third-part software. This ensures optimum utilisation of network capacity and maximum control over data traffic.

 

 

7. Productfeature: Resume cancelled backups

Reliable resumption - no more time wasted

With the new function for resuming cancelled backups, you save valuable time and avoid unnecessary repetitions. If a backup process is interrupted unexpectedly - whether due to network failures or other problems - it can now be resumed exactly where it left off. This function maximises efficiency and significantly reduces the time required, especially for large backup sets that are about to be completed.

 

 

8. Productfeature: Maximum security with separate SiS package

Minimal attack vector - maximum protection

With the new, separate SiS package, we are setting new standards in terms of security. The targeted removal of all unnecessary functions, processes and libraries drastically reduces the attack surface. Each removed component closes potential backdoors for external threats and makes your IT environment more resistant to cyber attacks. This not only minimizes the risk of unauthorized access, but also optimizes system stability and performance. Companies profit from a robust, hardened backup solution that is designed for absolute security - without any unnecessary attack vectors.

 

 

9. Productfeature: Proxmox integration extension

New backup methods and smart management

The new Proxmox integration extends the existing backup options vzdump and storage snapshots with a third variant specifically for NFS-based storage: hypervisor snapshots via NBD/QEMU/QCOW2. This allows backups to be integrated more flexibly into existing Proxmox environments. Automatic Storage Detection automatically recognizes the connected storage and selects the optimal backup API – which can be customized at any time if necessary. This greatly simplifies job configuration in the WebUI. When selecting VMs, VM tags are now displayed in addition to VM names, making it easier to identify VMs. VMs encrypted by vTPM are also backed up invisibly in the background. All these features ensure efficient, convenient management and faster backup processes.

 

 

10. Productfeature: MS SQL

Optimized recovery with automatic relocation

The enhanced MS SQL integration in SEP Sesam's WebUI offers flexible recovery with automatic relocation: databases can be easily moved to a new location during restoration without the need for time-consuming manual adjustments. The paths are automatically adjusted in the background. The entire process can be conveniently controlled and adapted to individual requirements using the advanced WebUI options of the optimized MS SQL agent. This ensures greater efficiency, reduced downtime, and smooth integration into existing MS SQL environments.

 

 

11. Productfeature: SAP HANA

Optimized backup and restore of large HANA databases

Artemis makes SAP HANA data backup even more reliable. The new implementation of individual timeout mechanisms allows even complex multistream scenarios to be handled stably and efficiently. While current versions of SAP HANA wait for all active streams during backup and restore, SEP sesam intelligently distinguishes between inactivity at the start and unnecessary interruptions during data transfer. This makes the backup and restore of large HANA databases more robust, flexible, and better suited to the real requirements of enterprise environments – even in high-load scenarios with multiple network connections. Companies benefit from greater stability, reduced downtime, and a significant improvement in operational reliability in critical SAP landscapes.
